I have had the privilege of opportunity in the year 2025. That is a gift that is priceless and one of the most strived after achievements. When person, after person give you opportunity, you take each time as the most important time. And that is a personal goal of mine: to create the best live wedding painting ever, each time. 

For Kayla and Peter, I was very excited for one reason that is controversial in this day and age. I was excited because of their skin tones. I do not have a lot of diversity in my portfolio. It is hard for persons of color or other race to envision themselves within my paintings because I do not feature people like them very often! 

With the bride being a native of Hawaii, and the groom descending from the Philippines, this was a new creation for me! I loved creating the brides warm and golden skin tones of my palette. The groom featured that unique blend of warm and cool tones. It was the most fun challenge! 

I actually believe this might be my very “best” painting of the year. 

Of course, the best live wedding painting ever is a very, very subjective opinion. But for this painting, I am judging it on realistic coloring, likeness to the subjects and interesting composition. I felt like the venue that the couple got married at was challenging for creating an interested painting. White brick walls, cool grey toned wood floors, minimal windows. None of it was calling to me. With the addition of the brides white dress, I felt stumped on how to make this a “successful” painting!
