The Gift of a Live Wedding Painting

May 21, 2025

What kind of gift do you give to your kid that is getting married? Aside from being very generous and paying for the wedding, Cynthia decided it wasn’t enough for her daughter Sarah. Sarah always wanted a live wedding painter at her wedding, but there simply wasn’t room in the budget for it. That’s when Cynthia secretly contacts me to give Sarah the wedding she has always dreamed of and the ultimate present: The Gift of a Live Wedding Painting.

Sarah and Jake spend most of their time in the mountains. Hiking, jogging, swimming. These fitness fanatics are obsessed with all things mountains. So very fittingly their wedding was going to take place within the incredible mountains of Buena Vista, Colorado at Mount Princeton Hot Springs. While all the details were coming together, there was a missing element to Sarah. Cynthia contacted me letting me know she would like to reserve my services and surprise Sarah with the gift the night before the wedding. That didn’t quite go to plan, however, when Sarah herself ALSO reached out! She had managed to find some room in the budget and could not wait to book. So, the gig was up! Of course Cynthia had to let her know and Sarah was so ecstatic. Few phone calls have revealed a more grateful bride.

The Live Wedding Painting

We discussed her dream and her vision for the painting. She had an epically gorgeous and fitted dress paired with a cathedral length veil that she wanted highlighted in the painting. Jake, the groom, was a slightly more timid character and we wanted to capture him as organically as possible. When the couple was announced as bride and groom, they turned to face the audience and bam! There it was! The perfect moment and of course I got a great reference shot. I spent the remaining 4 hours completing their 16×20 canvas painting and left the canvas out during the reception. I was staying at a nearby hotel so I came and retrieved the canvas later on.

Sarah and Jake’s painting quickly has become one of my favorite pieces to date. Accentuating the florals and her sweeping veil pair together wonderfully. Was the gift of a live wedding painting worth it for Cynthia, Sarah and Jake? This is the google review that Sarah left: “Olivia was amazing! Both professional and incredibly talented. Her art is incredible and the quality canvas and oil paints she uses makes her worth every penny so the painting won’t fade! Cannot recommend her enough, so thankful to have this piece in our home!”

Thank you to you all for having me capture your moment on canvas! I hope you adore it, forever and ever, amen!
