The State of the Wedding Industry (SOTWI), also known as : The Wedding Masterclass, is a traveling educational mentoring program for wedding industry professionals to keep a pulse on the everlasting question: What is the state of the wedding industry this year? In 2026, we are seeing a lot of changes, as usual. But most noticeably, the shift of generations getting married. We are nearing the end of millennials getting married but beginning to see Gen Z getting hitched. For the millennials, they are struggling to find original content ideas post Covid-boom. And for the Gen Z, they are struggling with the expensive cost of elaborate weddings and going back to the basics.

With the state of the wedding industry always changing, so must I. I was so kindly asked by the incredible genius behind The Velvet Veil Planning Co. to come do my signature watercolor guest portraits. But since the topic of the Masterclass was change, I thought I would use this platform to present a brand new, one of a kind painting experience.

The State of the Wedding Industry- A New Offering

Somewhere between a caricature and a watercolor guest portrait fashion illustration, I launched a new service: faced portrait paintings. Quick, monochromatic paintings that captured the guests essence. With realism being the goal but not too much, these fun and fresh paintings come out completely unique! They were such a hit amongst the attendees I ended up mailing out over 20 portraits after the event. Showcasing this event across social medias and capturing content produced many bookings for this new service. Personally- I cannot wait to do more of them! As opposed to the watercolor guest portraits, these are booked on an hourly rate. So what do you think? Would this be something that both millennials and Gen Z would enjoy?
