Would you believe me if I told you that the very first vendor Kali and Tim had on their list to book was a painter? Shortly after confirming their venue date, sure enough! Kali and I connected to fulfill her vision: A Very Large Live Wedding Painting.
Of course, I was so excited! And replied with a booming “YES!” when she inquired to see if I felt up to the challenge. But with the wedding almost 18 months away, there was not much that we could do for now! Finally, fast-forward to March 2025. The day has come for Tim and Kali. They were married at Ashley Ridge by Wedgewood Weddings in Littleton, Colorado. The weather held out just long enough for them to have their sweet ceremony outside. While the rest of the evening was accompanied by nonstop rain and sleet outside, it was full of warmth and love inside!!
Into the Live Wedding Painting
The 24×36 painting is coming along wonderfully. The ballroom was full of lush florals and dazzling candles that surrounded a show stopping couples table drenched with flowers. When the cold sparkler light off during their first dance was met by the perfect twirl, I knew we had found our moment! I love to use a really active color palette, meaning I often put some colors on there that are more than “true to tone”. Other artists tend to put down a limited palette, based solely on what they see to be in the reference photos or space. For some reason, my mind does not work that way. I like to feel the way the color looks, and sometimes that means allowing a certain colors in where they are not actually!
By the end of the night, the couple had danced and danced with their friends and family. I had completed about 80% of the canvas in 6 hours. I was so honored to have been able to capture their love on canvas. The following touch up sessions in my studio brought back all the happy memories of the night. Bursting with color and light, I am so proud of this large scale painting for Kali and Tim. Thank you for having me and congratulations on your forever!
